Interested to be updated about the next generation of spatial data infrastructures – Open SDI – in a new, more active way of learning? Join us at the very first Open SDI Summer School!
The ERASMUS+ SPIDER project consortium organizes the Open SDI Summer School, aiming for students to get introduced to and learn more about open SDIs. While actively networking with each other and experts in the geodomain, students will have an opportunity to expand their knowledge on new development trends such as blockchain technologies, machine learning, open data policies, etc. to realize open SDIs in a more active learning manner.
About the Summer School
open SPatial data Infrastructure eDucation nEtwoRk (SPIDER) is an Erasmus+ project aiming to promote and strengthen active learning and teaching towards Open SDI. Its main goal is to introduce new trends and innovations in teaching and learning which should lead to better knowledge acquisition and higher competences of the students for the job market. Project composes of five acknowledged European universities, TU Delft, KU Leuven, University of Zagreb, University of Lund and Hochschule Bochum, with experts in the domain of spatial data.
Open SDI Summer School is designed as an event to present methodology and content developed through several project phases related to new topics and new teaching and learning methods in open SDI education. It is meant for students who would like to build on their knowledge in open SDI domain, but in a more active way.
The Summer School aims to introduce participants into the concept and state-of-the-art of open SDI and related data with topics ranging from fundamentals to technical and non-technical characteristics. Besides learning the theory, participants will work on practical assignments. Working in groups with people from different backgrounds and under mentoring of experts will help them understand better the new concepts and to get insight into the problem from different perspective.
Formal requirements
- BSc/MSc/PhD students
- Valid passport (or visa)
- Health coverage
- Attendance in all courses
The course language is English. Students will receive a certificate of attendance and ECTS certificate (2.0 ECTS)
SUMMER SCHOOL CONTENT
In this five days event, the participants of the Summer School will work on the content related to:
- Open SDI
- Open data
- Open technologies
- Open participations
TARGET STUDENTS
Open SDI Summer School addresses MSc/Phd students from SPIDER partner universities as well as students from other universities with interest in SDI and open spatial data. Applicants are not required to hold EU citizenship. Number of participants is limited.
Students who are interested in participating should apply via a short letter of interest and CV, explaining why they are interested and why they consider themselves as a good candidate for participation. Based on those, students will be selected for participation on the Summer School.
FEES AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT
Participation at Summer school is free of charge. Students at partner universities can apply for financial support for travel expenses and accommodation through their institution.
Students are required to have their own health insurance.
