Partners on SPIDER project proposal gathered at AGILE 2019 Conference in Limassol, Cyprus, 17-19 June, 2019, and organized a workshop titled “Towards Open Spatial Data Infrastructures.

Frederika Welle Donker (TU Delft), Ali Mansourian (LU), Ulrike Klein (HSB) and Dražen Tutić (UNIZG), together with participants, discussed the concept of Open SDI. ‘Map of Open SDI in Europe’ was presented, showing the results of three years of exploration of the openness of NSDI implementation in Europe. This ‘Map of Open SDI in Europe’ is developed to provide SDI decision-makers, practitioners and researchers with a more comprehensive understanding of the openness of spatial data infrastructures in Europe. The discussion was aimed to further development of the concept of Open SDI, especially in the context of the new EU Directive on Open Data and Public Sector Information and its impact on the openness of SDIs across Europe, introduced with examples from The Netherlands, Germany, Sweden and Croatia.
